Lucky Bag Giveaway to Elderly and Grassroots Families for Lunar New Year 2022

To continue to support our practice of compassion towards all sentient beings in space, especially to the elderly and grassroots families in Hong Kong when the Chinese New Year is approaching, the Wisdom Light Buddhist Association will give away 1,000 lucky bags to these needy people together with Disadvantaged Charitable, a local charity organization, on 23 January 2022 (Sunday).

Hundred Trees Planting to celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje

To celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje and pray for His Holiness’s long life, you are invited to join The Hundred Trees Planting activity, which is initiated by Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kalsang Nyima.

As the world is facing all sorts of problems and diseases, it is important for us to continue to follow in the footsteps of His Holiness the 17th Karmapa and plant trees to create a better environment for everyone in this earth, especially Hong Kong. Same as last year, we will be planting 100 trees this time.

1. The tree planting is held on the steep slopes and so this activity is strenuous. Please consider carefully if it is suitable for you to participate in this activity before you enroll;

3. All participants must observe the Government’s anti-epidemic regulations during the activity.

Trees Planting – An Auspicious Celebration of 35th Birthday of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje

Nowadays environmental issues have become more pressing than before. His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje has dedicated much of his precious energy to the subject of environmental protection. He has educated the monasteries, monks and nuns and mobilizing them to implement different environmental projects in their monasteries. To have an auspicious celebration of the 35th Birthday of His Holiness the Karmapa in this year, monasteries and organizations in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet undertook many different environmental protection and tree planting activities. As such, our Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kalsang Nyima would like to lead Wisdom Light Buddhist Association to conduct a tree planting activity in Hong Kong for celebrating His Holiness the Karmapa’s auspicious 35th birthday and benefiting our world environment.

The birthday of His Holiness the Karmapa is on 26 June. Our working team has made every possible effort in contacting different organizations in Hong Kong to set up the birthday celebration activity on a day which is close to His Holiness the Karmapa’s birthday. Upon various efforts by different parties, we are pleased to be able to get details of this activity available at last and present them as follows:

Lucky Bags Giveaway for Singleton Elderly in Hong Kong to Celebrate the Birthday of our Master, Venerable Khen Rinpoche Kalsang Nyima

On this auspicious day of Khen Rinpoche Kalsang Nyima’s birthday, we, the disciples, pray that we will be able to make the most supreme offerings to him. But there are no words that can express our gratitude. We can only continue to practice our Guru’s teachings, i.e. generate Bodhichitta to help all living beings in the space to attain the unsurpassable, perfect Buddhahood. In order to engage in Bodhichitta, we would also practise compassion and kind actions and look at our mind to tame our ego clinging. These are the most supreme offerings to our Master! 

In order to repay the immense kindness of Khen Rinpoche, we, the disciples, have decided to continue to practise compassion and virtuous actions in accordance with our Master’s teachings. Following the kind consent from our Master, we now plan to give away 200 lucky bags to elderlies in Hong Kong on this auspicious day.

Vegetarianism is truly a way of liberating animals and other living beings. However, being a vegetarian yourself and encourage others to become vegetarians do not cost any money unlike a life release. If you wish to become a vegetarian, and actively promote the benefits of vegetarianism to others, so that more people can become vegetarians, then you would have saved countless and boundless lives.

Let’s make this happened by promoting vegetarianism!
It helps us to stop doing the misdeeds, practice virtuous acts and compassion to all sentient beings.
Stop killing and be a vegetarian.  

Let us cultivate compassion and bodhichitta.
